When I first heard about Discover Vienna: Climate Tech, I was intrigued. A four-day immersion in one of Europe’s most progressive cities, devoted entirely to climate technology—too compelling to miss. As someone passionate about sustainable innovation and startup ecosystems, this event feels like a golden ticket where green dreams meet real-world impact.

Hosted by the Vienna Business Agency, this annual event, taking place from October 22 to 25 this year, connects international climate tech startups with Vienna’s thriving innovation ecosystem. The program is for companies beyond the prototype stage, ideally with their first paying customers. It offers more than networking, with site visits, roundtable discussions, and a close look at Vienna’s infrastructure and policy landscape.

Startups in clean energy, sustainable mobility, circular economy, water systems, and green construction are especially encouraged to apply. It is fantastic that accommodation and travel costs are covered for selected startups. This makes it easier for founders who might otherwise hesitate to explore international opportunities.

The focus of the event is not just on technology, but also on systems thinking, policy alignment, and community engagement. The benefits of this program ripple far beyond the startups themselves:

What strikes me most is Vienna’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity. The organisers actively prioritise diversity and accessibility, making sure underrepresented founders have a meaningful place at the table. It’s not just lip service—it’s embedded in the very fabric of the program.

To me, Vienna feels like the perfect canvas to shape the future. Vienna is greener than ever, buzzing with energy, and the momentum is something you can actually feel.
