The Future of Work according to the Vienna Chamber of Commerce

Share

According to the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, professions contributing to sustainability and reducing dependence on fossil fuels will dominate in the future.

There will be a high demand for electronics technicians, building mechanics, and freight forwarders. These ‘Green Jobs’ will mitigate environmental impacts and promote efficient resource use. Skills such as design thinking, creativity, adaptability, and resilience will become essential. Importantly, traditional professions will also integrate ecological thinking, reassuring the audience about the commitment to sustainability. Vocational training must adapt to these changes.

Electronics technicians will be needed for solar systems and electric car chargers, while building engineers will focus on climate-friendly systems like heat pumps. Freight forwarders will be key in reducing ecological footprints in goods transport. The growing interest in these areas is palpable, with a 12.4% increase in vocational training in Vienna, indicating an optimistic and exciting future job market.
